Vertical Horizon

Get your fresh Veges here!

Inspired by the fine restaurants and chefs they have worked with for nearly 20 years, fledgling farmers Kevin Osburn and Natalie Parkell hope to grow into a new direction – UP! Their small, Hobe Sound farm – Vertical Horizon – uses a very successful vertical hydroponic growing system. In a small space, they are able to grow tomatoes, peppers, lettuces, herbs, kale, swiss chard, beets, onions, spinach, beans, even edible flowers using no herbicides, pesticides or other toxic chemicals. This approach to farming using organic growing methods and sustainable farm practices (such as a reduction of water use by 85% over traditional growing) translates into safe and delicious food you can feel really good about eating!

In addition to the varieties of vegetables they currently grow, Kevin and Natalie are always interested in experimenting with other items their customers may request. Just ask them if there is something they might grow for you! Next year with an opportunity to expand, they are also hoping to provide produce baskets on a weekly, bi-weekly or monthly basis. Customers can receive the freshest and most nutritious produce money can buy, and instead of traveling 1,000 miles to your home (as most tomatoes do, for example), you will be “buying local” and supporting a family farm right here in our community! Just stop by and ask either Kevin or Natalie about our Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program.
